“The Hows & Whys of Semi-Supine”
The introduction

People completely miss the point when they tell you to do Semi-Supine. Semi-Supine is indeed truly wonderful but what is it wonderful for?

And because they miss the point they tell you to do all the wrong things. Which immediately makes it far less wonderful than it should be.

What is Semi-Supine wonderful for?

Semi-Supine is just so-so at helping you to learn how to stand better or sit better or walk better — because, when you’re doing Semi-Supine you’re not doing any of those things: you’re lying down. Semi-Supine, surprise, surprise is for helping you to rest better.

Why is resting better so important?

Resting better — and more often — is vital when you’re learning to do anything at all, even just sitting better at a computer. It’s vital because, when you learn to move better you’re beginning to use muscles that you otherwise never use. Never-used muscles are going to be small, weak and flimsy. Such muscles can’t work in anything more than very short bursts.

Ask a weak unused muscle to work for longer and it will just pack up on you. When it does, you’re back to using the same old muscles you always use. You’re just doing things the same way you’ve always done them. You’re not doing anything different so you’re not learning anything different.

And those weak muscle are getting only one or two tiny doses of exercise all day so they’re not really getting stronger either. What a waste of an opportunity to grow in both strength and ability. What a waste of time.

Don’t waste time lying down for twenty minutes

The wise way to use Semi-Supine is to lie down little and often. Really little and really often. Ideally, lie down for just thirty seconds at a time — and every ten minutes. Yes, I know it sounds like hard work. And it is. But do that and you’ll zoom ahead. You’ll achieve in weeks progress that takes decades for other people who you don’t lie down little and often.

Be one of those who zoom ahead

I’m so glad you downloaded this booklet because now you can be one of those who zoom ahead. Start right now: just take a thirty second break and lie down.

Now? Yes, now! You can learn the details of how to lie down later. For, now just do it any old way you like.

Are you back from your micro lie-down? Congratulations. Brilliant. Now just remember to keep doing it often. Sometimes you can, indeed, do it every ten minutes. At other times you might only get round to it after an hour — or even two. No matter, you’re still streets ahead of those people who think they’re doing so well lying down twice a day.

So congratulations on downloading this booklet and congratulations on having done your first micro lie-down. Who cares if those twice-a-day down-liers lie down for twenty minutes. What do they gain from that?. All they gain is momentary recovery from the dreadful mess they got into by NOT lying down for a disastrous six hours.

Personal Coaching by Philip Pawley

If you want to get the best kind of help, come to me for an introductory lesson in Liverpool.

If you’re too far away, then the next best thing is to get personal lessons and advice from me online at Repoise.com, my on-line school. (Both far-away and local pupils use Repoise).

In more detail:–

If you’re in Liverpool (or can get to Liverpool)

  1. There’s nothing better than individual lessons. My practice is at 37 Hope Street, Liverpool L1. Ring me on 0151 708 6172 to book an initial consultation and first lesson. (Leave your number so I can get back to you).
  2. If you’re short of funds, you can still have first class training from me — though it will require a little more work on your part.

The thing to do is have an individual, in-person lesson just once a month. That will entitle you to also get regular on-line lessons from me through Repoise. That way, you have the best of both worlds: in-person lessons and very regular, even daily, on-line Personal Coaching by Philip Pawley from me. That’s a real bargain because Repoise costs the equivalent of three lessons a year to everyone else.

Ring me on 0151 708 6172 if you want to arrange this.

  3. I occasionally run group lessons. If you’re interested in these, go here for details.

If you’re further away and can’t get to Liverpool

  1. There’s still nothing better than individual lessons. Here’s where you can find a teacher near you in the UK or elsewhere
  2. I suggest you also get direct day-to-day guidance from me by joining Repoise.
